Skiing Galore

Oh yeah, winter is here. I has been a very busy couple of months and given it is moderately late and I work yet another day in corporate america tomorrow I will keep this short. This is me before going out skiing across the country club with Heather. It was windy and the goggles were necessary I swear.
Coffee spilled across my keyboard only incurred momentary damage. I ripped it apart at home and managed to make sure moisture did not get any further. I even put it all back together again.
This was our third cross country outing up a train near Camel's Hump. It was a steep road and Heather showed her mettle with her skies. The snow was very wet and the steep incline meant we were sliding back on every step. The decent on the other hand was the fastest I have ever gone on skies. And I fell a lot. Otherwise I would have been doing 50 mph by the bottom.
On the way back the sun was setting. Truly remarkable. This doesn't even come close to capturing it.
This is where we skied today. This is Little Pond, the Waterbury Reservoir. It was a 700 foot elevation gain over a mile or so, the snow was a little better but still a challenge. The decent was swift, around 25 minutes to cover the ground that took an hour to cover on the way up. This shot doesn't really show the mountain's impressive mass hidden by the clouds. There were a couple of people out fishing on the ice but apart from them the trail was empty and we avoided the snowmobiles. And we made it back in one piece.
